Thanks to JuggleAnim for providing the juggling animation simulator, Juggling Lab.
If you are unable to see the above simulation, you probably don't have the latest version of Java installed. You can download it free from Sun Microsystems.
Simulator Instructions
After entering all the parameters you want, just click the Juggle button at the bottom to begin the animation. You can click on the juggling stick figure to pause the animation. Click it again to resume. You may also click and drag on the stick figure to change the 3-D view angle.
Pattern - This is where you enter the siteswap of the pattern you want animated. A siteswap is just a numeric way to specify a specific juggling pattern. If you don't know about siteswaps, you can just type in the number of balls you want to see juggled in the Pattern entry box. (Note: Siteswap notation only uses numbers up to 9, then it starts using letters, starting with 'a'. So if you want to see 11 balls juggles, just type the letter 'b' in the Pattern entry box, and hit the Juggle button.)
Dwell Ratio - Dwell is the amount of time that a ball stays in each hand. The Dwell Ratio parameter must be a number between 0.0 and 1.0, representing the fraction of time that the hand is filled.
Throws per Second - This parameter tells the simulator how fast or slow to juggle. To juggle faster, the juggler will have to make lower, quicker throws.
Hand Movement - You can choose from the drop down menu what type of hand movement you want to see animated. You can also manually enter the hand movements by specifying the spatial coordinates. More detail on manual entry is found here.
Note: An easier way to perform the hand movement effects is to use the Visual Editor (see instructions below).
Body Movement - You can choose to have the body move about as it's juggling. (Try 'circles'). More detail found here.
Prop Type - Choose the objects you want to see juggled. Choose between: ball, image (3-D shaded ball), and rings.
Manual Settings - You can specify many customized options here. One example is changing the color of the balls. Try entering 'colors=blue' into the Manual Settings entry box. (Colors available are: mixed, black, blue, cyan, gray, green, magenta, orange, pink, red, yellow. For full details, go here.
Generator tab - This is where you can have the simulator generate all possible siteswap combinations given your entered constraints. For more detail, go here.
Pattern List tab - This is where the results of the Generator are displayed.
Visual Editor - This is the vertical graph thing on the right side of the animation. Once you figure this thing out, you'll be able to customize the simulator juggle any pattern you want. You can click on any red/black dot, then move the green box on the simulation to any position you want the catch/throw to be. You can also add extra events (by right clicking the visual editor), and defining the position of the hand movements throughout the pattern. For full instructions go here.
